Smoke alarm & Fire alarm installation

Protect your tenants and property with the right smoke and fire alarms.

Rental properties require interlinked alarms, but the specific type can vary based on your location and property type (especially for HMOs – Houses in Multiple Occupancy).

Understanding Fire Alarm Categories

  • Category D (Smoke Alarms): Interlinked smoke alarms are the standard for most rentals.
  • Category A (Fire Alarm Systems): These include a fire control panel, call points, and sounders. They’re usually required for HMOs or high-risk buildings.

Level of Protection (LD) Categories

  • LD1: Offers the most comprehensive coverage, with detectors in all escape routes, rooms, and potential fire-starting areas (excluding bathrooms).
  • LD2: Focuses on escape routes and high-risk fire areas, providing a good balance between safety and cost.
  • LD3: The minimum requirement, with detectors only on escape routes.
